Floor Insulation

Eliminate cold floors and reduce heat loss with professional floor insulation solutions

Floor insulation

What is floor insulation?

Floor insulation involves adding insulating material beneath your floors to prevent heat loss through the ground. Up to 15% of heat in an uninsulated home can be lost through the floor, making it a significant source of energy waste.

There are different types of floor insulation depending on your property type. For suspended timber floors, insulation can be fitted between the joists. For solid concrete floors, insulation boards can be laid on top before a new floor finish is applied.

Floor insulation not only reduces heat loss but also eliminates cold draughts coming up through floorboards, making your home much more comfortable.

How does floor insulation work?

For suspended timber floors, insulation material is fitted between the floor joists from below or by lifting floorboards. The insulation is held in place with netting or boards, creating a thermal barrier between your living space and the cold ground below.

For solid concrete floors, rigid insulation boards are laid on top of the existing floor, then covered with a new floor finish such as screed, chipboard, or floorboards. This raises the floor level slightly but provides excellent insulation.

Our experienced installers will assess your property and recommend the most suitable insulation method for your floor type, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum energy savings.
